Ejecutar Faust con kafka se bloquea con ConsumerStoppedError

Question

Recientemente instalé Faust y ejecuté un programa básico para enviar y recibir mensajes a través de Kafka. Usé el código de muestra mencionado en ( Ejemplo de Faust de publicación en un tema de Kafka). Mientras ejecutaba el programa inicialmente, se conecta a Kafka (que también se ejecuta en mi máquina). Pero luego, al intentar consumir, Kafka se desconecta y la aplicación se bloquea con la siguiente excepción

Al depurar el motivo por el que el consumidor se desconecta, veo que en fetcher.py de alokafka consumer se cierra la conexión debido a la siguiente excepción

Creo que su problema es el mismo que yo tenía con Python 3.9 y cambié a 3.8 ahora Funciona.
